  1. How well you care about your customers!

So, by the end of the article, you will completely understand How To Get Paypal & Stripe to Stop Holding Funds.

  1. Never Assume PayPal and Stripe are banks.
  2. Turn On – PayPal Seller Protection – Important.
  3. Shipping and Privacy Policies.
  4. Customer Support and Phone Number.

1. Never Assume PayPal and Stripe Are Banks

Straightforward and simple – You need to protect your hard-earned revenue, so keep it in an actual bank.

Do’s

  • Withdraw 80% of the Total Funds of your PayPal account daily to the Real Bank!
  • Apply for lower fees, the process is all automatic. Contact PayPal support, and you’ll end up profiting a lot. (They won’t cross-question you if your volume is Good!)

Dont’s

  • Do not hold more than $5,000 – $10,000 payments at any time on PayPal and Stripe.
  • And don’t be a lazy freak on withdrawing your money daily.

In some countries, you can enable PayPal’s Auto-Sweep feature, which automatically withdraws your Paypal account balance daily. However, if your country does not support this option, I strictly recommend a manual withdrawal daily. (You can use your PayPal phone app to withdraw the money daily).

This will certainly minimize your risk with Paypal from holding money if they decide to put a hold on your account payment.

2. Turn ON PayPal Seller Protection [ Important ]

Seller Protection is a feature by PayPal to protect sellers from fraud, and irresponsible customers.

To Turn ON Seller Protection on PayPal, you will need to submit proof of shipment to PayPal for each transaction occurring in your store (Basically, Feed Datapoint to PayPal Servers).

As soon as you submit the tracking numbers –  “PayPal Seller Protection Gets Turned ON”.

  • By synchronizing the courier tracking information with the PayPal servers, you are actually providing PayPal AI that you are a legitimate and serious business. Since you have already shipped the product, PayPal can directly verify it with the courier servers regarding delivery updates.

Do’s

  • Sync Tracking Numbers to PayPal to Turn on Seller Protection.
  • Use Apps Like Proveway to automate the process and avoid headaches. (Proveway has a Free Plan)
  • The accounts syncing tracking numbers to PayPal had very few issues. The same is the case with Stripe.

Dont’s

  • Ignoring the Importance of Seller Protection

However, submitting courier tracking numbers (proof of shipment) to PayPal is a tedious task. Therefore, at Proveway, we have created a wholly automated Shopify App that will Turn Seller Protection on for all of your orders entirely on autopilot

3. Shipping and Return Policies

Paypal shipping and return policies payment

Let me keep this simple; you need to make sure you have the following:

Do’s

  • A clear indication about the delivery time.
  • What happens if the customer does not receive the item in the mentioned time frame? – Have a clear solution for this on your return & delivery page.
  • Keep returns and refunds smooth so that your customers never directly hit a PayPal or bank chargeback.

Dont’s

  • No Shipping & Contact Us page on your website.
  • Not proper information, if a customer wants to return the item they purchased.
  • Not issuing refunds promptly even if it wasn’t the customer’s mistake.

If you are dropshipping and asks customers to return the item themselves by manually shipping it, you are killing your business.

It is a general mistake from the e-commerce sellers’ side that leads to PayPal money being on hold, However, If you are doing this, then you need to irradicate this problem immediately.

A better idea would be to charge restocking fees for all returns and create a return label! Then, while refunding, you just deduct the restocking fees from the total amount, which is the easiest for customers. At least they will not be posting bad things about your store on Trustpilot or BBB.

Do this, and you will get a better business reputation and fewer angry customers. Thus, a better PayPal and Stripe relationship and ultimately protect you from PayPal from holding money.

Here is an App for generating cheap shipping labels: Shippo (find it on the Shopify App Store).

4. Customer Support and Phone Number

Do’s

  • Reply to all customer issues within 24 hours.
  • Have a customer support phone number.
  • Have at least 3 Channels for customer support.

Dont’s

  • Not resolving customer issues within a week.
  • Customers have fewer channels to contact you.
  • Not replying to customers within 24 hours.
  • Your website contact process is ambiguous.

You can get a customer support care number from Freshcaller!

5. Copyright & Trademarks

It’s not just Facebook and Shopify who do not like to entertain DMCAs. If any other brand team DMCA’s PayPal for any copyright issues on your store and if PayPal found them right. You’ll lose your PayPal access for life.

Do’s

  • Use supplier’s product images only for low-volume products,
  • For Products doing with 50,000$ volume, get your product photos.
  • Once a product starts getting sales, rewrite the product description.
  • Before you scale any product make sure it’s not an exact copy of any other brand. Confirm this with your supplier multiple times.

Dont’s

  • Don’t use any other brand or trademark keywords.
  • Don’t scale products with your supplier images.

I hope by now you should have learned ways how to get PayPal & Stripe to stop holding funds. You need to do a better job at customer service and being a legit business.

Pending Transactions. Why Is Money Pending On PayPal?

PayPal transactions are marked pending whenever PayPal takes time to review the transaction. Money pending on PayPal is typically released within 21 days but sometimes it can take longer.

These transactions will remain marked as pending until it expires.

So why does PayPal say payment pending? What can you do to get your money faster?

“If the order status is “Pending”, your order has been received by the seller, but your payment has not yet been processed. The status of an order will continue to display as pending until it expires, is completed, or has been voided.” – PayPal

7 Reasons Why You
May Have Money Pending On PayPal

1. PayPal account type

Many PayPal businesses make the mistake of trying to sell on PayPal while using a Personal account.

The problem is Personal accounts are not suitable for running an e-commerce store or any other type of business because of the limits associated with the account.

That is why merchants should always upgrade to a Business account and make use of the extra features made available by PayPal such as :

  • Setting up a subscription management service.
  • Sending and receiving invoices.
  • Eligibility for PayPal credit offers and discounts.
  • Less payment holds and pending transactions with a verified business.

2. PayPal may need a while to review the transaction

Sometimes PayPal will spend a lot of time reviewing the transaction to ensure there is no risk of fraud or any other illegal activity.

For certain types of high-risk products, PayPal will need to review due to government compliance and regulations.

It is a good idea to check the list of items marked as high risk by PayPal

3. First-time sellers

While starting out, sellers will need to establish a certain level of trust with PayPal before PayPal allows their business to make sales without much hassle.

To do that, it is necessary to have a stellar transaction record (buyer-seller transaction history) that is free of disputes, complaints, and chargeback requests.

And, don’t forget to verify your identity by providing as many legitimate business documents (proof of address, business owner documents, etc) as possible.

While in this phase, it is possible to find many of your pending transactions being placed on hold by PayPal.

Read this guide to understand how to avoid such payment holds in the future.

In case you are using Shopify, consult with experts to get more insights on this matter. Ensure a smooth payment & checkout process with Shopify store setup and configuration service.

4. Nothing being sold for a long period of time

Inactive sellers may find pending payments as they will need to rebuild credibility after coming back. As mentioned above, sellers will need to re-establish a positive buyer-seller transaction record to gain back PayPal’s trust to reduce the amount of money pending on PayPal.

5. Customers filed formal complaints for a refund, dispute, or chargeback.

PayPal does not take too kindly upon sellers who are only in it for the money and not to satisfy customers.

Repeatedly receiving such complaints may significantly harm your business.

Fortunately, there is a way to win disputes even when it is not your fault, all thanks to the Seller Protection program.

To unlock Seller Protection for each of your orders, be sure to provide tracking numbers so that PayPal and customers can track the shipment by checking with the courier.

And, if you find it difficult and time-consuming to provide tracking information (proof of shipment/proof of delivery) for each order, then it is best to use a Shopify app such as Proveway.

These apps can automatically sync tracking info on their own without making any mistakes. Proveway automatically provides data points to PayPal’s Server AI.

As a result, Seller Protection is easily unlocked for each order and pending transactions are avoided.

6. You have a suspicious selling pattern

At times PayPal’s AI will be alerted if you make an unusually high amount of sales in a very short period of time.

Such suspicious selling patterns may result in money received pending on PayPal.

Additionally, it may be suspicious if there is a disntic change in the type of item you are selling.

7. You’re selling riskier items

If you would like to sell high-risk items such as travel packages, gift cards, tickets, or consumer electronics, then it is best to get PayPal’s permission before doing so.

Here is PayPal’s list of high-risk items that can be the cause of having your money pending in PayPal.

Conclusion

Having your money pending on PayPal is not as uncommon as you might think.

That’s why it is best to build trust with PayPal by satisfying customers, fulfilling orders, and complying with all of the tips provided in this list.
